Tasks and Responsibilities:
As an Orchard Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations.
- Planning and allocating sufficient human resources for orchard tasks.
- Supervising personnel activities, including training and ongoing supervision.
- Ensuring the availability of operating materials and resources for team members.
- Monitoring staff performance and maintaining high work standards.
- Supervising the inspection and maintenance of machinery.
- Managing programs to maintain disease-free and healthy crops, including recording spray programs.
- Motivating staff to ensure optimum performance and output as per company standards.
- Providing continuous training to staff on orchard-related tasks, such as pruning, thinning, vine management, weeding, and hoeing.
- Evaluating staff performance and contributing new ideas for improvement.
- Monitoring and assisting in meeting annual production targets.
- Solving problems related to staff performance and orchard operations.
- Providing feedback to the Manager on staff performance and suggesting ideas for improvement.
Skills and Specifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working on farms or a relevant Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prepare rosters, calculate time, and production costs.
- Knowledge of employment laws and health & safety regulations will be advantageous, but training will be provided.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills for managing and supervising staff.
